How to Use RT38 Super Mini Walkie Talkie For Kids

RT38 is tiny and compact walkie talkie for 4-12 years old children. When children take it out for playing , It works well at long range and are useful for practical communication, such as hiking, enjoying picnic, camping, etc. Today, I would like to introduce the operation guide of RT38. 

1. How to install RT38?

There is a belt clip one back of RT38. So the first step is gently press the outwards at the snap to remove the belt clip.Then push down the battery cover and install 3 AAA batteries. The batteries are not included in the box, so you need to prepare them in advance. After installing the batteries correctly, please install the battery cover and the belt clip.

Switch Volume Levels:To increase the volume, press the Up button▲ to increase the volume and press the Down button▼to decrease the volume.

Change Channels: Short press the menu button one time to adjust the channel by the Up button ▲ and the Down button▼

Set CTCSS/DCS: Short press the menu button twice. This setting is to prevent others from hearing your child's conversations.

Turn on/off VOX: Short press the menu button 3 times. VOX stands for "voice activated transmission". It is usually used to turn on a transmitter or recorder when someone speaks and turn it off when they stop speaking. With this function, you can make the radio hand-free. The VOX of RT38 has 1-3 levels in total. The higher the level, the more sensitive.

Adjust Call Tones: Short press the menu button 4 times to adjust the call tones. RT38 has 10 different call tones.

Time Out Timer: Short press the menu button 5 times to set options. Time out timer means the device will automatically stop transmit after 30sec or 60 sec continuously transmit. Press Up button▲ or Down button▼ to choose options, including  60 or 30 seconds or OFF.

Turn on/off Roger Beep: Short press the menu button 6 times to turn on or off the roger beep. Roger beep means a tone or tones added to the end of a talk to indicate that the operator has concluded speaking. If your partner's walkie talkie turn on the tail tone, you will receive the sound prompt.

Turn on/off Touch-Tone: Short press the menu item 7 times to turn on and off the touch tone.

Set Double Channel Monitor: Short press the menu button 8 times until "DCM OF" icon displays. Press UP button▲and Down button▼can choose DCM OFF or ON. When choose DCM is on, press Menu button one time, then scroll Up/Down button to choose monitor channel. The moniter channel can not be the same as main channel.

Turn on/off Flashlight: There is a small torch button with bulb icon under the display. Press this button to turn on the flashlight, and press it again to turn off.

Scan and Monitor: Press and hold the UP button▲ about 3 seconds to active scan mode. Press and hold the Down button▼ about 3 seconds to active monitor mode.

Tips:

1. Press menu button and hold for 3 seconds can lock the keypad. It is to avoid children accidentally changing the radio settings. To unlock the radio, press menu and hold for 3 seconds will work.

2. If you want to reset the RT38 to factory defaults, here are the steps: At first, turn off the walkie talkie and remove the battery. Secondly, keep pressing the power button and reinstall the battery. At last, then turn on the radio. The radio will display "CH 100" icon, which means restoring the factory settings successfully.
